George Carlin left much more behind than the “Hippie Dippie Weather Man” and “The Seven Words You Can Not Say“.
Like my father, and Richard Pryor, George was in a class of one. He was a master of words, dialect and associating the normal everyday into the exquisite art of funny. George gave me my first casino gig as his opening act in Atlantic City so many laughs ago.
The “Greats” of comedy are dying off. I can just imagine what George would have said regarding Awards. I loved George and the seven words. I never wanted to say so soon, George. I will miss you very much.

Kitty,my mother was a stripper and my father owned a ‘girls’ show’ and was MC up until WWII. When I first saw the pictures as a kid I was crushed and ashamed but as time has gone on I understand what a strange realm of ‘show bussiness’ my parents inhabited.
I lost my mom in 2000 and I now cherish those pictures and consider myself a lucky person to have known that side of life and come out unscathed (pretty much).
Down in New Orleans a few yrs ago I met a stripper from the my moms’ old days Tajmah, Jewel of the Orient. She was sweet and acted like she remembered my Dad. What a hoot. I miss my mom.
Sorry to go on and on but not many people to share the stripper story with. By the way my mom was Pat the Blonde Bombshell. She said all she ever wanted to be saoid of her was “she was a good old gal” and she was. Bridgette
I was introduced to the Lenny way off hand at a Buddhist get together. With the Lenny Bruce quote, ” Let me tell you the truth, the truth is what is, and what should be is a fantasy, a terrible terrible lie that someone gave the people long ago.” I memorized it, like a disciple. I found myself on a mission then to find out about him and was left with the impression, oddly enough, that he had died for our sins. Ironic. I have then talked about him to anyone who would listen. What an intelligent and beautiful person. I have heart felt love and admiration for him. I did not find him offensive, more like compassionate, which is the seed that encourages enlightenment. Thank you masked man.
